SHORT FILM ASSISTANT
The position of Short Film Assistant has become available within the Short Film department of New Zealand Film Commission for a person seeking to advance a career working within the film industry. The Short Film department focuses on the talent development of New Zealand’s up and coming filmmakers.
The Short Film Assistant reports to the Short Film Manager, to assist with the smooth running of the department through:
- Preparation of short film festival submissions and the organisation and promotion of short film domestic screenings throughout New Zealand;
- Organisation and despatch of short film materials for all requirements including international film festivals and sales;
- Day to day communication with international and domestic film festivals, filmmakers, television stations and educational institutions;
- Managing the library of short film materials;
- Regular website maintenance, including YouTube site;
To be successful in this role you will have/be:
- Knowledge of the NZ film industry; - A passion for New Zealand film and filmmakers; - Highly motivated and hardworking; - Committed to working as a team; - Excellent written and verbal communication skills; - Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; - Good time management and organisation skills; - Cool headed under pressure; - A relevant tertiary degree; - Strong computer proficiency in Excel and Word; - Photoshop knowledge would be an advantage; - Internet savvy.
